Let’s face it – I fell off the blogging bandwagon. Big time!
The past four years have been busy. Being a wife and mommy is a job in itself. And as if that wasn’t enough, I decided to add being a PhD student. I barely had time to sleep let alone blog on a regular basis!!! I love blogging though. At one point in time I was writing two successful blogs of my own and managing a corporate blog. Was I crazy??? Probably.
Anytime I start something I give it my all – it’s just who I am. When I decided to pursue the PhD I had to make some tough decisions. One of them was to stop blogging altogether. I knew I couldn’t be fair to my family, my studies, or my blogs. There simply wasn’t enough of me to go around. So I shut down all blogs. It was hard for me, but it was essential. I’m happy to say I successfully completed and defended my dissertation [Social Networking Sites in the Public Relations Classroom: A Mixed Methods Analysis of Undergraduate Learning Outcomes Using WordPress, Facebook, and Twitter] this summer and have graduated. (Yeah for me!)
Now does this mean I’ll be blogging every day? Maybe, but not likely. I can’t make promises. I’m still a wife and mommy and I teach. I need to make sure I’m giving my all to my family, my students, and my research. (Look for an upcoming article in Communication Teacher soon.)
What I want to do with this blog is use it as an outlet to talk about topics in PR, Social Media, teaching at the University level, life in general, as an avenue to highlight some exemplar work from my students… and well pretty much anything else I want to do with it. I’m not looking to have record number of followers or land on some influential blogger list anymore. I’m exactly where I want to be life.
Life is good.
